In the current difficult conditions of martial law, it is very important to maintain the continuity of forest management. This requires the development and use of new technologies.
To this end, a delegation from the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine recently visited the Czech Republic at the invitation of the University of Bohemia with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) as part of an international training seminar on sustainable forestry.
As part of the delegation, representatives of the State Agency of Forest Resources, the Ukrainian State Forestry Project and the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” worked with Czech colleagues, scientists and FAO representatives in the following areas:
- Planning and strategies for sustainable forest management in the context of climate change;
- Use of modern technologies for monitoring and analysis of forest management;
- Application of remote sensing, laser scanning, photogrammetry in forestry practice and research;
- Methodology and practical implementation of the national forest inventory of the Czech Republic;
- Formation of forest management plans and schemes using statistical operational forest inventory and advanced technologies.
One of the main objectives of the visit was to discuss and resolve the issue of improving the UKRTAX information system based on Field-Map technology.
